October 2, 2003:
Its a Girl! Congratulations to Bret and Kristi on the birth of their
daughter Keara Kiyomi Hedican who came into the world October 1, 2003,
weighing 7lbs.
-
September 10, 2003: Well as a sign that I really
will be back updating this website.. here's a picture of Bret from
training camp :)

-
September 4, 2003: The 2003-2004 season is almost here! And yes, this website will be updated.. eventually! At the moment I'm in the middle of moving, and my computer is in storage - once everything is back together and I'm moved into my new house I will focus on getting this website ready for the new season :)
-
April 18, 2003: Congratulations to Bret and Kristi.
They are expecting their first child in October. Read the full article
here. After I return from
holidays I will work on updating this site - for now if you wish to chat,
there is a section of the
Canucks
Report new message board just for that.
-
April 18, 2003: I've moved the Bret Hedican website
to a new webhost - that offers more features :) An update to the site will
be forthcoming. Spent a week in Mexico so slowly catching up on everything
(including the NHL playoffs) and will be making a trip out to Vancouver for
another week long vacation. So somewhere around all of this I will be updating
the website.
-
March 19, 2003: Yes I'm still alive! Just have not
been doing web updates. Carolina is officially out of Playoff contention -
looks like they are following in the footsteps of the Buffalo Sabres and Washington
Capitals. So I'll be cheering for Vancouver all the way to the final! :)
-
January 12, 2003: Hedican returned to play vs. Colorado
today. To see why he's been off the ice for so long, read the article from
the
Associated Press.
-
January 7, 2003: And now Hedican is back off the ice.
He only played in 2 games and has had a recurrence of symptoms from his concussion.
-
January 1, 2003: Bret is back on the ice - he returned
to the ice December 28th vs. the New York Islanders. Happy New Year Everyone!

December 23, 2002: Hedican Injury Update - From
Faceoff.com
INJURY UPDATE: Carolina defenseman Bret Hedican missed
his fourth game in a row with a concussion.
He said that he hasn't been cleared to return, but he hopes that approval
will come following the Christmas break. The Hurricanes play Friday and
Saturday, and though he might not be ready to be in the lineup he'd like
to at least be back skating again.
He said he has made progress since suffering the concussion Dec. 12 at Calgary.
More than a week later, Hedican said he still was having issues with the
injury.
Hedican crashed into the goal, pushed by Calgary's Craig Conroy. Hedican
hit his head on the pipe.
Rookie Tomas Malec has taken Hedican's place in the lineup.
-
December 20, 2002: Hedican still remains out with a
concussion. According to coach Paul Maurice he does not expect Hedican to
return before Christmas. Our best wishes go out to Hedican for a speedy recovery.
-
December 16, 2002: The pictures below work now - just
noticed I forgot to fix them so that they will show up properly. Hedican missed
his first full game of the season last night due to the neck injury he suffered
on Thursday. Hope he's doing OK and is back playing soon. -- added note Heddy
did suffer a concussion as a result of hitting the crossbar.
-
December 14, 2002: The curse lives on... ok, at least
this time I got to see Heddy play in 1 1/2 games :) .. but have yet to meet
him. He did notice me during pre-game .. that was awesome :) Heddy only played
in half the Calgary game because in the second period he got tangled with
Craig Conroy and ended up hitting the crossbar with the side of his head.
He did manage to get back up after the trainer came out to see him and attempted
to play a few shifts after the injury, but left shortly thereafter and did
not return. I didn't get to meet him because the visiting team bus is no longer
where it used to be in Calgary so the players are not accessible .. and I'm
not one to go hanging around hotels and the such. So I'll just have to try
again next time. The only good news of the night... Carolina won 4-3.
-
December 11, 2002: Finally! I got to see Bret play
...albeit in a 4-1 loss to Edmonton :( Oh well.. they'll come back tomorrow
night in Calgary! And I'll be there watching again..and hopefully getting
my Jersey's autographed after the game!
Here are the only pics that turned out that my roommate took
for me... I really need a new digital camera (and I won't be getting one till
Christmas) 2 of Bret .. and one of the back of Irbe.

December 4, 2002: Updates, Updates, Updates! 1
More week til I finally (hopefully) get to see Bret play live! Last time
I saw him live in a game was December 27, 1998. Last two times he was in
Edmonton/Calgary he was Suspended and Injured. I'll be at the
games in Edmonton and Calgary - and I'm hoping to get my Jersey's
autographed after the game in Calgary :) Now as for the updates - I
added an article from the
News Observer
today into the News Section, updated
Hedican's Stats, and added a bunch of
Pictures from the
Carolina
Hurricanes Website. Enjoy!
-
November 28, 2002: Quote from Bret on the game
vs. Vancouver
"They are finding ways to win," Carolina
defenceman Bret Hedican said. "They are getting the bounces, they
are getting the calls and they are getting the breaks.
"But when a team works hard for an extended period of time like they
have they are going to get those breaks."
-
November 27, 2002: Hedican went against his former team
- the Vancouver Canucks - and came away with 1 goal and 1 assist - but
Carolina still lost the game (which was OK with me.. since the Canucks
are my favorite team.. and they have now won 8 straight games!)
-
November 13, 2002: What a night for Hedican! He
got an assist, a game winning power play goal, and notched the 200th
point of his NHL career and also - he was First Star of the game
:) He got the game winning goal against the Phoenix Coyotes in Carolinas
3-2 win :) You can check out a couple pics of the game in the
Pics section. Also - He is in the
Carolina Hurricanes Game Night
Wallpaper for Nov. 12.
-
November 2, 2002: Updated Heddy's Stats. And if you'd
like to check out a couple of his new teammates, you can view the Player
Profiles for Harold Druken
and Jan Hlavac
from my Canucks
Report Website. A note to Hurricanes fans - Harold Druken is a
really nice guy :)
-
October 22, 2002: Added a couple pics to the
Photo Gallery. Including the Bret
Hedican Wallpaper from the Carolina Hurricanes Website.
-
October 17, 2002: Bret was in the Penalty Box for 6
minutes on Saturday night .. when there wasn't even a penalty against
him! Check out the article on
newsobserver.com

How many players can you fit in one Penalty Box??
Hedican served almost six minutes before he asked
the off-ice official when he was supposed to get out.
"He said, 'You're not even supposed to be in here,' "
Hedican said. "I said, 'Thanks for telling me.'
That sort of summed it up."
-
October 12, 2002: Bret got his first assist of the
season in Carolina's 5-3 win over Atlanta. (and yes he is still #6)
-
October 7, 2002: Bret is back in the game, he played
over 27 minutes in Saturday's game - and got a 5-minute major too. Also
of note - he's still wearing #6. At least everywhere I look; that's what
it says - although for a while there, about half the places said #33.
-
September 25, 2002: Hedican was injured in the
pre-season game September 24 against Tampa Bay. He has a hyper-extended
right knee. For more on the hit, check out the newsobserver.com article.
He is listed as day-to-day. (which is what I am right now with a
sprained ankle :P)
